It maintains bookshops in Istanbul and Adana (the latter with the support of the local church), and sponsors bookshops in Ankara, Izmir, and Mardin, It also distributes Bibles through a network of commercial bookshops and secular book fairs. The Bible was first translated into old Turkish (i.e. Ottoman Arabic script) in 1666 by order of the Sultan - at the request of Dutch Ambassador. A Latin script (i.e. modern Turkish) New Testament was published in 1941, a fully-revised contemporary New Turkish Translation of the whole Bible in 2001, and a Kurdish New Testament in 2005. A Kurdish Old Testament and a Turkish website (www.kitabimukaddes.com) are currently under way.
